The SCAPS clinical team collaborating
Our Story

Built on science. Driven by compassion.

SCAPS was founded on a simple belief: that people struggling with weight deserve the same evidence-based, judgment-free medical care as anyone with any other chronic condition.

Our Philosophy

Why education and medication — together

Most weight loss programs offer one or the other: a diet plan, or a prescription. SCAPS was built around the clinical evidence that neither works as well alone.

The education component gives patients the knowledge to understand their own biology — why their body stores fat, how hunger hormones work, what drives emotional eating, and how to build habits that actually stick. Without this foundation, even the most effective medication produces temporary results.

The medical component addresses the biological barriers that education alone can't overcome. For many patients, hormonal dysregulation, metabolic adaptation, and genetic factors create a physiological headwind that no amount of willpower can overcome. FDA-approved medications, prescribed and monitored by our clinicians, level that playing field.

Weight is a complex medical condition shaped by genetics, hormones, environment, and behavior. Treating it requires the same rigor we apply to any other chronic disease.

Grounded in the latest obesity medicine research

GLP-1 Receptor Agonists

The clinical evidence for GLP-1 medications (semaglutide, tirzepatide) is among the strongest in the history of obesity medicine — with trials showing 15–22% body weight reduction. Our clinicians are trained in their appropriate use, monitoring, and integration with behavioral support.

Metabolic Adaptation

Research shows that the body actively resists weight loss through metabolic adaptation — reducing resting metabolic rate, increasing hunger hormones, and altering energy expenditure. Our program is specifically designed to address these biological responses, not ignore them.

Behavioral Science

Decades of behavioral research confirm that knowledge alone doesn't change behavior. Our education program is built on evidence-based behavioral change frameworks — including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral techniques, and habit formation science.

What We Stand For

Our core values

Evidence-Based, Always

Every treatment we offer is grounded in peer-reviewed clinical research. We don't follow trends — we follow the science.

Compassion Without Judgment

We've heard every story. Our team approaches every patient with the same respect and clinical rigor, regardless of history or starting point.

Education as Treatment

Understanding your own biology is half the battle. We invest heavily in patient education because informed patients get better, lasting results.

Whole-Person Care

Weight is shaped by biology, psychology, environment, and behavior. Our multidisciplinary team addresses all of it — not just the number on the scale.

Medication as a Tool, Not a Shortcut

We prescribe FDA-approved medications when clinically appropriate — as one component of a comprehensive plan, never as a standalone solution.

Long-Term Partnership

Our goal isn't a 12-week transformation. It's a lifetime of better health. We build relationships with patients that extend well beyond the program.
